Mammograms Reduce Breast Cancer Deaths by 30%, study shows
Breast cancer is the most frequently diagnosed cancer in women in the United States, not including skin cancer, and is second only to lung cancer as a cause of cancer deaths. One of the longest mammogram studies followed more than 100,000 Swedish women for 29 years. The researchers found that seven years of mammograms made for 30 percent fewer breast cancer deaths years down the road, when compared with women who didn't receive mammograms.
