Featuring 4D Ultrasound

The physicians at Atlantic Medical Imaging are committed to providing the finest in medical care and are pleased to introduce the new, "state of the art", GE Voluson 730 with added 4D ultrasound for all of your gynecologic and obstetric needs.  It features advanced signal processing, which produces higher-quality ultrasound images. But what makes the system unique is exclusive GE 4D technology.

While conventional 2D ultrasound will provide most if not all the information required for your routine obstetrical examination, when needed, 4D Ultrasound represents the difference between video and a still photograph. Through this revolutionary technology, a three-dimensional image is continuously updated, providing a "live action" view that leads to a number of medical benefits. Physicians and sonographers can better analyze fetal development. So you’ll know what to expect and can feel confident during your pregnancy.

In contrast to other 3D imaging diagnostic processes, 4D allows your doctor to visualize internal anatomy moving in real-time. For example: Movement patterns of fetuses allows conclusions to be drawn about  their development.  So physicians and sonographers can detect or rule out any number of issues, from vascular anomalies and genetic syndromes.

While 4D ultrasound is best seen early in the third trimester between 27-32 weeks, imaging can typically be performed anytime from 24 -34  weeks.  From 28-36 weeks, babies are developing the fat layer that fills in their features so you will see more facial detail at this time.

Please note that 4D imaging depends upon the baby’s position, size, and movement, maternal tissue and amount of amniotic fluid.  Image quality cannot be guaranteed due to these factors. For Twins, the best time is before 28 weeks of pregnancy.
