In 2007, the American College of Radiology introduced the Breast Imaging Center of Excellence Award.
The ACR recognizes breast-imaging centers that achieve excellence by seeking and earning accreditation
in all of the ACR’s voluntary breast-imaging accreditation programs and modules, in addition to the
mandatory Mammography Accreditation Program.

In order to receive the ACR’s Breast Imaging Center of Excellence designation, a center must be
fully accredited by the ACR in:

• Mammography
• Stereotactic Breast Biopsy
• Breast Ultrasound (including ultrasound guided biopsy)

The Breast Imaging Center of Excellence designation recognizes Atlantic Medical Imaging’s dedication to improving women's health by participating in rigorous quality assurance programs.  

The Breast Imaging Center of Excellence signifies that our center provides services at the highest standards
of the radiology profession.  Our personnel are well qualified, through education and certification, to perform and interpret medical images.  Our equipment is appropriate for the tests and treatments our patients receive, and the facility meets or exceeds quality assurance and safety guidelines.
