Interventional Radiology is a branch of medicine that diagnoses and treats medical conditions using tiny, miniaturized tools while watching their progress on x-ray or other imaging equipment. Typically, these minimally invasive procedures are performed through a very small nick in the skin about the size of a pencil. These Interventional Radiology procedures are generally much easier for the patient than surgery because they involve no surgical incisions, result in less pain, and require shorter hospital stays.
