MRI

What is an MRI?

MRI, or Magnetic Resonance Imaging, represents one of the greatest advances of modern medicine. With this powerful yet totally non-invasive imaging procedure, diagnostic radiologists can visualize the earliest presentations of a large variety of important diseases and conditions, [including many common forms of cancer]. Besides providing the opportunity for early diagnosis, we are able to carefully evaluate the stage or degree of advancement of the condition and help plan for appropriate therapy. This benefits the patient with a reduced need for hospitalization and fewer trips to the operating room.

MRI is ideal for evaluating orthopedic and joint conditions as well as the majority of sports related injuries and disc herniations in neck and back. The physicians of Atlantic Medical Imaging have consistently practiced at the forefront of the newest applications of MRI such as examinations of the breast, pelvis, prostate, arteries and bile ducts. MRI applications that are being utilized clinically at the major university hospitals are certain to be found at Atlantic Medical Imaging.

AMI operates five advanced MRI facilities. At our EHT and Bethel Road offices we offer the high field Hitachi Altaire Open MRI system. At our Festival Mays Landing, Cape May County and Somers Point offices we have the General Electric short tunnel, high field (1.5 Tesla) MRI. This non-claustrophobic scanner produces a high quality and advanced MRI study. At our Galloway location we have the Ultra High Field (3 Tesla) Short Bore MRI, the strongest magnet available on the market. This magnet produces a superior imaging scan, moreso than any MRI on the market today and is especially noted for scanning joints and small parts imaging of the detail in the image quality due to the high strength of this magnet. At our Wall Township location, we have the Ultra High Field (3 Tesla) Short Bore MRI and the Hitachi Altaire Open MRI.  Depending on your particular test indicated and your special needs we will tailor our imaging to suit those needs.
