Dr. Mike Watts of the Vascular Institute at Atlantic Medical Imaging was recently featured in Vascular Disease Management for his presentation at the 2026 Amputation Prevention Symposium.
In his presentation, “When Economics Meets Innovation: Matching Deep Venous Arterialization to the Right Site of Service,” Dr. Watts explored the evolving role of deep venous arterialization (DVA) in limb salvage and the importance of considering both clinical and economic factors when determining the appropriate site of service for this innovative treatment.
Deep venous arterialization is an advanced treatment option for select patients with severe peripheral artery disease and chronic limb-threatening ischemia (CLTI) who may have limited or no conventional options for restoring blood flow to the foot. The procedure is designed to redirect arterial blood through the venous system to help improve blood flow to affected tissue and potentially reduce the risk of major amputation.
