Mammography Preparations

When scheduling your mammogram, please inform the scheduler if you’re experiencing any specific breast concerns such as pain, a lump, or nipple discharge. If you have any of these symptoms, you must see your doctor before your mammogram.

Appointment Guidelines

To help ensure a smooth visit, please arrive 15 minutes before your appointment and bring the following:

  • Your prescription, insurance card, and photo ID.
  • Tracking number and referral (if required by your insurance plan).
  • Payment for any co-pay, co-insurance, or deductible—contact your insurance provider with any coverage questions.
  • Any prior relevant breast imaging studies and reports.

Important Exam Reminders

  • Remove glucose monitors (such as Freestyle Libre) and medication patches before your exam to prevent damage.
  • Do not wear metal or jewelry.
  • Avoid using creams, powders, or deodorants on your breasts or underarms, as these can cause artifacts on the images.
  • Wear a two-piece outfit—you’ll only need to change into a gown from the waist up.
  • Let us know if you have breast implants or mobility limitations when scheduling.
  • If you’ve had breast imaging at another facility, please bring those films and reports with you.
